Russell Kororareka is a small, historic seaside village on a peninsula in the eastern Bay of Islands. Since the 1700s it has provided a haven for visitors, offering shelter and hospitality. Because of its relatively remote location it retains an island quality and a charm that reflects the tranquility of earlier times. Despite this, it is a vibrant, cosmopolitan community that attracts visitors from New Zealand and all over the world - some of whom have chosen to make Russell their home.
Getting to Russell
Although the town is situated on a peninsula, getting to Russell is easy. It is only three and a half hours drive from Auckland and forms part of the Twin Coast Discovery route.
Upon entering Russell, turn right into Church St, past NZ’s oldest church, go straight across the next junction. We are about 20m on your right.
If you fly you can rent a car at Kerikeri and drive to Russell or take a shuttle or taxi to Paihia and catch the passenger ferry where we'll meet you or just let us know and we'll pick you up from your flight or from your bus. More information can be found on the Russell Website www.russellnz.co.nz
